Hardwood flooring factsheet: jatoba

The tree from which jatoba hardwood is sourced has many names. Its Latin, or botanical name is Hymenaea Courbani but it is more commonly known as the Brazilian Cherry, not for any resemblance to the usual cherry tree but for its rich cherry red colour.  Resistant to rot and most insect infestation, the jatoba tree originates from Central and South America and the West Indies and can reach an impressive height of 130 feet.
