What types of wood are available?

There are many different types of wood which are available to use as hardwood flooring. All hardwood flooring is made from solid pieces of wood, unlike the cheaper alternative of laminate flooring, you can be sure that you are getting a good quality, high spec flooring when you choose hardwood flooring.

Each of the types of wood that is available for your new flooring has different properties. Some woods are harder than others and they all differ in colour. Depending on what room you are thinking of having hardwood flooring will determine the hardest of the wood that you may require. For example, rooms that experience a large amount of traffic such as hallways, kitchens and living rooms would be best suited to having maple, ash or oak hardwood flooring.

However, in rooms such as bedrooms or dining rooms where there is little footfall, you could get away with a softer wood such as cherry or beech wood.
