An often overlooked species of wood, and one that is perfect for wood flooring, is rosewood. A very hard and durable species, rosewood is used to make cabinets, furniture, decorative veneers and even musical instruments in addition to hardwood floors.

Rosewood also has a very beautiful look, adding ambience and light-reflecting aesthetic appeal to pretty much any room. The colour of the species varies, as do most kinds of wood, ranging from deep purple with black streaks to dark brown. Rosewood ages very elegantly as well, with its darker tones becoming more golden brown over time.

Due to its very special and unique look, as well as the fact that it is not as easily available as other popular woods such as oak, rosewood flooring can be more expensive to buy.
