ADVICE ON THE RIGHT HARDWOOD FLOORING

Hardwood flooring can create a spectacular backdrop to any style of interior, whether you prefer something minimalist or prefer something a little cosier. It works perfectly in modern homes and can be something of a key element when it comes to the interior design of your period property. Of course, deciding to use wood flooring in your home is the easy decision – the hard part is working out just which is the right wood for your home.

Choosing the right wood for your home is a big decision, after all, hopefully, it will last you for years, so you want to make sure that you make the right decision.

WHAT ROOM?
Different types of wood work well in different rooms so consider the room you want to install wood flooring in. Take into account the size of the room; lighter shades will help to make a small room appear larger whilst darker shades will make it seem smaller. Will the room be subjected to a high footfall, for example an entrance hall or a kitchen, you need to make sure that the wood you pick for either of these rooms is incredibly durable and will live up to people walking back and forth over it a lot.

COLOUR
Wood flooring will work perfectly with almost any colour scheme you might have in place in your home, so don’t think that you are tied to a particular shade or colour. You might however want to take into consideration the furniture that you have in a room. If all your furniture is made of lighter coloured wood then you may prefer to choose a lighter shade for your flooring as well.

PRICE
Wood flooring isn’t the cheapest option on the market. However, it is incredibly durable and if you take care of it properly then it will last you for many years and more than pay for itself. Remember to factor in the cost of fitting and any preparation work that needs to be carried out on your existing floor.
