AN INTRODUCTION TO DUO-PLANK FLOORING

If you have been scouring the market for new wood flooring for your home, it is likely that you have come across Duo-Plank. Not everyone knows about this innovative new product yet, but it could be perfect for your home so it’s worth finding out more about it.

Duo-Plank was developed in the Netherlands, a country known for its precision engineering and exceptional standards of design and stability in the wood floor industry. Its defining feature is its wide planks, which are very popular amongst consumers because of the way they look but which can be a nightmare to install.

The designers of Duo-Plank have solved the installation problems normally associated with wide plank floors, such as shrinkage, swelling and warping. Each Duo-Plank board has a unique multi-layer construction, with a 15mm moisture-resistant Plywood layer and a 6mm hardwood layer on top, which gives you the same amount as you get above the tongue & groove on solid hardwood flooring, so will last just as long and can be renovated just as many times.

This multi-layered approach creates stability, whilst still allowing the natural, authentic beauty of the hardwood to shine through on top.  Duo-Plank floors are far less likely than other solid floors to react to moisture, humidity and other atmospheric conditions that solid wood floors can react badly with. They can also be installed with underfloor heating, provided that maximum recommended temperatures are adhered to.
