BEST ECO-FRIENDLY WOOD FLOORING PRODUCTS

Many consumers these days are very concerned about the environment, leading them to gravitate towards products that are made from sustainable materials and using eco-friendly processes and practices.

Wood flooring is a product that is subject to much scrutiny with regards to its ‘green’ credentials. If eco-friendliness and sustainability is important to you, here are a few of the best wood flooring manufacturers to go for:

Elka

The makers of Elka wood flooring products have a set of impressive green credentials. The majority of the timber the company buys is from suppliers which are a part of the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC). This ensures that the timber used to make Elka flooring is from sustainable and well-managed sources.

Ted Todd

As well as having a ‘Respect for our Forests’ philosophy as a company, Ted Todd refuses to work with suppliers who are unable to prove that their timber has been ethically sourced, nor does it work with timber from trees which are facing extinction.  The manufacturer only sells Forest Stewardship Council certified wood flooring and also works with recycled timber.

Kährs

In addition to being one of the most well-known wood flooring manufacturers, Kährs  is also the most eco-responsible. The company believes in sustainable and responsible forestry and does not market rainforest wood products (it only uses rainforest timber that comes from carefully controlled sources). Kährs also only works with FCS (Forest Stewardship Council) or PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) certified suppliers.
