HOW TO GO ABOUT CLEANING A PRE-FINISHED HARDWOOD FLOOR (PART 2)

In this second article about having to clean your pre-finished hardwood floor, we will take a look at products you can safely use on the floor now that you have removed the dirt and debris from its surface.

From the outset it is important to point out that a suitable floor cleaning solution must be used – one which is recommended for your type of hardwood flooring. You can check with the instructions you got from the manufacturer when you purchased the floor to get an idea about this.

You can use a safe and easy to use water-based cleaner on floors which have been well finished with three coats of polyurethane or four coats of a water-based product.

The specialists will always advise you to use a neutral pH cleaning product rather than a low or high one as despite the cleaning benefits they can bring; it can also dull the floor. By deploying a mild and balanced cleaner on the floor you can remove mineral as well as oily deposits, while being safe to use on hardwood flooring.

Instead of using a floor cleaner, you may prefer to mop the floor with a damp mop dipped in water. Make sure it has been wrung dry before attending to the floor.
