WOOD FLOORING TRENDS FOR 2013

Each new year brings with it brand new trends and predictions for the months ahead, and 2013 is no different. In the world of wood flooring in particular, there are many exciting looks, styles and designs set to dominate this year. Let’s take a look at a few of the best:

1. Vintage, rustic wood flooring. Floors that have been distressed, weathered, aged or hand-scraped for that expensive-looking vintage look are really popular at the moment. The key to this trend is character, texture and rustic charm.

2. Boardwalk-style wood floors. Channelling nostalgic seaside style, this wood floor trend will be huge in 2013. Needless to say, these wide-plank, attractively weathered, boardwalk printed wood floors go amazingly with nautical-inspired décor, as well as baby and navy blues, whites and striped design schemes.

3. Red Oak. At the Surfaces 2013 exhibition, red oak was a big trend in manufacturer’s new collections for this year. Red oak has a warm, rich appeal and is full of character, with the added benefit that it ages beautifully over time. You can also find a wide range of exciting stains for red oak, as well as wire brush and gloss finishes.
